CALLING ALL TOM KITT, NEXT TO NORMAL, AND MUSICAL THEATER FANS!

WE WANT YOU to help us celebrate one of Broadway’s most prolific composers in a once in a lifetime virtual event!

Second Stage Theater in New York City is honoring Tom Kitt at their upcoming Virtual Gala on September 21st and want you to play a special part in it! This invitation-only virtual event will be attended by Broadway’s best and brightest from producers to artists and everyone in between, this is your chance to play a part in Broadway when our stages need the LIGHT!

NEXT TO NORMAL won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 2010 and transferred to Broadway from Second Stage and Tom’s musical, SUPERHERO, had its world premiere at Second Stage last year. Tom and Second Stage have a long history and a deeply meaningful collaboration.

As part of their tribute to Tom, Second Stage wants young musical theater fans to send in videos singing “Light”, the finale of NEXT TO NORMAL. These videos will then be combined into one master video showing fans from all over singing this hopeful number and spreading a little light in the world!

This video will play during the Virtual Gala and be the perfect way to honor Tom Kitt for his incredible impact on American musical theater. Once completed, the final video will be shown on Second Stage's social media so you can spread the light to your community!

All participants MUST SUBMIT THEIR VIDEO BY FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 4^th TO BE CONSIDERED.

Here’s how it’s going to work!

STEP 1:

Choose your track! "Light" includes all six characters in the show so we’ve included six separate tracks to achieve the full harmony. Please sing any track you like that fits your range. Regardless of which character's part you choose, feel free to sing the solo lines of other characters as well. We've included all the solo lines in all the tracks.

Each track can be found HERE as well as the lyric sheet and sheet music (ignore the dialogue and make the following cuts: Cut from M45 to end of 53. M54 is played twice. Cut from M68 to end of M74. M 75 is played once, then on to next bar (m 79))

STEP 2:

Get set up for proper filming/audio. Please click HERE to read full instructions. You can also find a tutorial video HERE (password: 2ndST) with helpful info.

STEP 3:

Record your video! (Don’t forget to clap on the second “1” in the count-off.) And before you begin, please say your name and email so we’re able to contact you!

STEP 4:

When you’re finished, upload your final video HERE.
